Now whites make up 65% of the population, so it makes sense more whites would be killed. Blacks are 8 times more likely to be killed by police than whites. They make up 13% of the population, but they do commit over 50% of the violent crimes - hence have more interaction with cops.

As a percentage of the whole population it is still out of balance.

 

Those who commit the most crimes will have the most interaction with the police. It is the responsibility of the police to go home to their families when their shift ends. Considering the number of crimes every year and police interactions with violent criminals the number is relatively low. How many police officers are wounded or killed each year in the line of duty.

 

So, let me get this straight.....you say that 50% of the violent crimes are committed by blacks (making them criminals), yet only 24% of those killed by the police were black (233 of 963). So, the police are not doing their jobs because TWICE AS MANY blacks should have been killed?

 

According to the Chicago Tribune, 500 black people were killed over the Labor Day weekend in 2016. I don't know how many will die this weekend, but it seems that is a bigger problem than the police.

 

Very few cops want to draw their weapons, too much paperwork. There had to be a better reason for an officer to do that than race. The OP didn't say how many of those blacks who were killed by cops, were killed by black cops. How many cops were killed by people they were interacting with and what were their races?

The thing is that no one has to die during an interaction with police.

 

I don't even want interaction with police, and do my best to keep it that way.

But less than 25% of those shot

8 times more likely to be shot ,
but 4 times more whites are shot , that dose not make sense.
If 465 whites were shot

would be 3,720 black's shot.

You see how fucked statistics can be.

After all , the only people likely to be shot by police , generally , are those involved in and around crime ,
so those are the really relevant figures.

So if only 233 Black's were shot , and these figures were meaningfully accurate ,
divide by 8 ,
and only 29 whites could have been shot.

But 465 were.
How can that be ?

On the face of it ,

The vast majority of those black people were not killed by whites.

With the issue of (white) police brutality blacks prefer to blame whites for problems they cause for themselves individually and collectively.

The same can be said of bogus "injustices" like white skin privalege and systemic racism.

Just checking the figures, but here in England and Wales the police have shot and killed 55 people since 1990.....now its true we do have a lot smaller population, but seriously , were lagging behind in a big way.

 

I think other genetic factors are more important. In a tribal culture all men participate in war. The best warriors usually have more than one wife, and consequently more sons who inherit their violent inclinations and aptitudes.

In a civilization the military becomes an occupational specialty. Most men live their lives without ever participating in a war. Military men have a lower life expectancy. They are less likely, rather than more likely, to have many children who survive and reproduce.

Moreover, during most of civilization criminal justice systems have been harsh. The emphasis has been on capital punishment. Many criminals were killed at the scene of the crime, or they died in custody. The few children they had rarely lived to adulthood.

That is why races that have practiced civilization the longest have the lowest crime rates. Civilization produces people who are less violent, but the process is evolutionary, and takes many generations.
